Somatic & Expressive Therapies

Somatic Experiencing (SE)

Somatic Experiencing is a therapy that helps people heal from trauma by focusing on body sensations rather than just thoughts or memories. Trauma can get "stuck" in the body, causing stress, anxiety, or physical tension. SE gently guides people to notice and release these sensations, helping them feel safer and more in control. It works by calming the nervous system, reducing trauma responses, and restoring a sense of balance. SE is useful for PTSD, stress, and emotional healing.

Music therapy

Music therapy is a healing method that uses music to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It can involve listening to music, playing instruments, singing, or creating music with the help of a trained therapist. Music therapy helps reduce stress, manage emotions, improve memory, and support healing from trauma or mental health issues. It is used for people of all ages, including those with anxiety, depression, autism, or chronic pain, making it a powerful tool for relaxation and self-expression.

Art Therapy

Art therapy is a form of healing that uses creative activities like drawing, painting, and sculpting to express emotions and reduce stress. Guided by a trained therapist, it helps people explore their feelings, process trauma, and improve mental well-being. Art therapy is useful for all ages and can help with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and self-discovery. It focuses on the creative process rather than artistic skill, making it a powerful tool for emotional healing and self-expression.

Movement Therapy

Movement therapy is a healing method that uses body movements, dance, and physical exercises to improve mental and emotional well-being. It helps people express emotions, release stress, and connect with their bodies in a safe way. Guided by a trained therapist, movement therapy is useful for trauma, anxiety, depression, and physical tension. It encourages self-awareness, relaxation, and emotional healing through natural body movement rather than words alone.

Physical Self-defence Therapy

Physical self-defense therapy combines self-defense techniques with emotional healing to help people feel safer, stronger, and more confident. It teaches practical skills to protect oneself while also addressing fear, trauma, and anxiety. Through movement, breathing exercises, and guided practice, it helps build resilience, reduce stress, and restore a sense of control over one’s body and surroundings. This therapy is especially helpful for trauma survivors, empowering them to feel secure and capable in daily life.
